I don’t mind seeming a little cantankerous at times, but I never want to be presumptuous. Of course we don’t always get what we want, and I have been presumptuous too many times over the course of my life. Honestly, the fact that I am not dead is a sure sign that God is merciful. I have presumed upon his goodness all too often.
Still, when I once called my blog “Scribe of the Kingdom” I do not think it was out of presumption. For good or ill it was born more out of something more of a challenge or dissent. I came from a Pentecostal church background that had more than its share of anti-intellectual sentiment. And I had the misfortune of being a thinker from a family of thinkers.
